community spotlights

It has been a minute since I’ve sat down to share a proper update here, but if there is one thing the last few months have taught me, it’s that everything has its season.

For a long time, writing was my world. Whether I was drafting television scripts or working as an online contributor sharing things to do in Ottawa, putting words on a page was how I processed life. But then, life grew in the most beautiful, demanding ways. Between opening the doors to Maman-Loup’s and welcoming my second son, writing naturally had to take the back burner. My hands were full of wet paint, coffee orders, and a newborn, and that was exactly where I needed to be.

Lately, though, the universe has a way of bringing you back to what you love. Through my work out in the community, I’ve started diving deep into Community Spotlights, shining a light on the incredible people, athletes, artists, and events that make our region so vibrant. Stepping back into the role of a storyteller and writing again has felt like putting on a favorite old jacket. It’s grounded me, reconnected me to my roots, and reminded me of how much I love documenting the heartbeat of our community.

Rediscovering that balance has also given us a chance to look at the future of Maman-Loup’s. We have some bittersweet but incredibly exciting news to share: we are officially changing locations!

While we are saying goodbye to the café side of things, we are leaning fully into what sets our souls on fire. We will be reopening this fall at our brand-new location as a dedicated, focused art studio. This new space will be an absolute sanctuary for creativity, offering a true home for our youth programs, family art sessions, mixed-media workshops, and raw creative therapeutic expression.

Thank you for walking this path with me through every single iteration of this creative journey. Your support through business shifts, growing families, and new chapters means the absolute world.

See you in the fall at the new space,

Alexandre-Aimée
